Ok, 9 days to the day we get to see the final episodes, lets go back and remember a few things for each season, we can do it day by day for the countdown.
Season 1.
The rules were not known, we see a bunch of guys in the snow and then dead people, we get another view and they are missing body parts and frozen, then we see cold gusts of wind and a little undead girl and killing of men whom we do not know, one man gets chanced by what seems to be the little girl that dead and we hear screaming of the others, flash forward and we have the introduction of the Stark household, the finding of the man who escaped the girl and hos beheading. Going WTF happened here we learn the rules and the rest of the story and it isn't what it seems.
The final episode one can't forget they just killed the star of the show..... All the intrigue, backstabbing, lies, deaths and more deaths. Little Arya going away with the recruiter from the Nights watch and a bunch of criminals and looking back at Kings landing.
I binge watched that first season not knowing about the show right away, but I was sold and season 2 was just starting, I watched season 1 and then binged and caught up to episode 3 of season 2 and was hooked.
Ok everyone your takes. We can do this a bit every day, no cheating forward now. A day at a time a season at a time.

Well I wrote mine. It took and hour and was very long, but I was in as a guest. So when I signed in it was all lost. Don't have another hour to rewrite it. These old age mistakes really piss me off. LOL!

The three riders head out in cold snowy weather, one of them in fabulous furs. Did I mention it looks COLD? Then the frail one of the group comes upon guts and gore. Sees a little girl that's been killed nailed to a tree. Scares him and me to bits. He goes and gets his friends to haul booty outta there and the cocky one with the fabulous fur says no. He want's to go see. From there - things escalate fairly quickly. FF is dispatched quickly, his head gets sliced off. Then the tall one gets his head chopped off and it is tossed to the frail guy that saw the original scene. I was so hooked.
Later in the series that scene is recalled to me because it reminds me of Sam hiding in the snow when the WW left him alive also.
The frail guy, as we learn, is from The Night's Watch, and Ned Stark, the star of the show, takes his head off as "part of his job as Warden of The North". By the end of that first season, even though we had been shocked by some of the twists and turns - what a shocker that Ned had his head removed by order of his best friend's son. I bought all the books. That next day. And yes, the BOOKS ARE BETTER. But the show is great!

Ok Season 2,
This is the season we see the chess pieces moved on the board, Stannis, Renly, Mel comes into the picture plotting and scheming all over, Littlefinger and Varies, Robb having to be the leader and Catelyn getting more involved then she should. Davos becomes a major player, and we see the arc of Arya going to the dark places, and Theons betrayel. How big of an asshole Joffery is and sick as well Marjory step in to keep him calmed down but you know it won't last, and Tywin and Arya's interaction which I still think is one of the best parts of the show.
Battle of Blackwater was epic and after that episode you knew they were going to bring movie quality special effects. All the plot twists, Catelyn releasing Jaime to set the path of many bad things to come, Breinne being introduced to us and then the Faceless men begin their involvement openly with Arya. It was a lot to take in all of a sudden with things going on everywhere but we painstakingly waited for a slow ass week to go by to get another episode.
By now I knew this was epic and different, I was on message boards now at HBO discussing it with some of you and many others as we tried to figure out the next turn of events, the ride had begun on the roller coaster, we were on that long first climb they take to the top of the first rise before the fast down hill with twists and turns happens so fast you can hardly hold on and react.

Ditto!!!!!
You stated that perfectly Chris! We all loved the scenes with Arya and Tywin. She held her own with him. That was no mean feat. Charles Dance is a hell of an actor.
Do you think the faceless men were trying to recruit Arya from the beginning? He did give her the coin and the made sure she could say the words.
The Battle at the bay was unreal for television. And half-man and Pod! Tyrion knew Joffrey was sick, but he still really wanted him to stay at the front so the other men would respect him. That's a loving Uncle. What a waste of humanity Joffrey was. Margery tried. Gross.
Caitlyn Stark would never have freed Jaime. He was way to valuable. He was the Kingslayer so his word would have meant nothing to her. That (imho) was clumsy.

I made a tweak to my Dead pool list. No, I've not killed off Jon. Kit has been everywhere! Amelia has also. OH NO....

OK, this time I signed in, no lost time and writing. LOL!!
Season 2. Dance with Dragons came out in July 2011 after Season 1, had devoured it twice by Season 2. I had joined the HBO boards sometime after Season 1, but I listened a lot in the beginning, but started sharing some before Season 2. I had also done a slow reread of "A Game of Thrones" and was pretty darn sure that Jon was the son of Rhaergar & Lyanna.
Had also joined Westeros.com, they were brutal if you didn't know canon perfectly. Reread the entire series slowly concentrating on all of the prophecies. Listening to what people thought the prophecies meant to the story and forming my opinions on what the prophecies meant.
Season 2 was a cinematic view of the books, I got to watch the character's I best loved from the books come alive. I loved Arya from the beginning and like GRRM's wife, I would have found him and harmed him if he let her die. I loved Jon from the beginning, who doesn't love the unloved. I also loved Rob and Bran from the beginning, Sansa got on my nerves, as much as I tried to like her. It has taken many years, but I do like her now, but only like. I have always hated Cersei and I have come to like Jamie, but he can never completely redeem himself for pushing Bran out the window. Tyrion & Dany were also favorites from the get go. Over time I have grown to love others from the series, which has shown them in a different light than the books.
I loved season 2 because Arya was at the forefront. Forming her own band of misfits, Hot Pie, Gendry, Jaqen H'gar. Jon was learning to lead and understand people and their nature and how to deal with people and life. Dany was also learning to lead, like Jon there were hard knocks and obstacles to overcome. We watched Rob become a man a leader and a darn good strategist. Cersei & Joffrey became more evil. Tyrion proved he was very intelligent and adept at leading. We met a very tall female Knight and loved her for her loyalty and morals.
Westeros was coming apart and Essos was spawning a Targaryen leader.
I knew when I was half way through "A Game of Thrones" this was a very special series, the top 3 I had ever read. The TV series was unlike any TV series before it. Special from the very first episode, with a brilliantly chosen cast. Letting go of something so special is almost impossible.

Season Three, by now I had read the first 4 books and was chomping at the bit for Dance with Dragons to come out, participating in discussions and also getting hooked on you tube vids. I also started delving into other G.R.R.M. works Dunk and Egg, and the Ice Dragon. I then came up with the thought we would see one or more in GOT, I was shut down by many but stuck to my thoughts.
Season three brought intrigue, we seen Jon get to know and fall in love with Ygritte, meet Mance Ryder, Jaime lose his hand and his identity and form a bond with Breinne eventually, the torture of Theon and the introduction of yet a more deranged character in Ramsey, Dany is not a little girl anymore and after betrayal more then once finally buys an army, we also now go from cute little Dragons to seeing what they can do for Dany and understand more so what they will mean when they are full grown. We also see Arya team up with the Hound and that alliance unfold, again it was one of the best parts of the season, Tyrion marries Sansa and we see the softer side of Tyrion. The White Walkers get a lot more time and we can see the threat they are. Oh and there was the wedding that made headlines and killed a shit load of main characters.
This was a season that took some patience to get the payoff with, so much political jousting before we got into the meat of things, the meat being all the leadership in power for the Starks dead. Walter Frey thinking he was the shit and Tywin showing how diabolical he really was.

The introduction of Ramsey was almost more than Theon deserved. Who can forget the 2 burned up boys from the nearby farm swinging in the air? So... only almost.
Jaime and Brienne had quite a relationship forming.
Jon and Yegrite also had quite a relationship going.
Jon and Mance were forming a relationship too.
But all of these were inconsequential compared to the relationship between Arya and the Hound. He is an awesome character! They were also brilliant together! Thank goodness he kidnapped her.
Damn - looks like Arya brings out the best in everyone!
Then the Rains of terror sewn by Tywin and Walder Frey. Jeepers....We knew it was coming, but we really weren't prepared for THAT! At least I wasn't. And yes it is HBO, but me oh my. First Robb's wfie, then Robb, then Walder's wife and finally Caitlyn and Greywind.
Thank goodness the Hound was there for Arya. Whew! They would have loved to have killed her too.

Season 4 the season of betrayal, Jorahs found out and Dany is forced to exile him,Ramsey plays operation with Theon, The Hound and Breinne fight, Arya heads to Braavos,we learn about the Moon door and that you can nurse a 11 year old, We see Sansa get played by Littlefinger and learn how deeply he is involved in everything, Tyrion is also betrayed by Shae and we see the Mountain take on Oberyn, in a trial by combat and then Tyrion kill his father. This sets up his journey to Essos and a whole new spin begin to happen with his Arc.
Oh and Jofferey has a issue with his Pigeon pie.
There was a lot more disclosure of the underlying control of the Realm this episode, we found Tywin really controlled everything, Littlefinger was manipulating everyone in his path to the Throne,it was one of the few seasons where it was a lot of set up for the things to come.
Jon losing Ygritte and the Battle with the Wildlings was the height of the season for me, Giants, and Mammoths, and the Thenes.
Tyrions trial was a moving experience to watch Peter Dinklage was so good in it as was Charles Dance.
By now I had got and finished a Dance with Dragons, and was chomping at the bit for Winds of Winter, my teeth have become nubs since I am still chomping.
Our message board chats had become a family affair and we got to know each other much better, I stopped going to a lot of other places because we were now in some instances off the book path and arguments of cannon versus show to me became irrelevant, I had separated the two works as two great works, one in Film and one in writing. I still watch the YouTube Vids because they were about the show not the books and theory's and thoughts were relevant and the detail of breakdown had got to such a high level. Just in a rewatch we catch things we missed, these guys were doing frame by frame and changing lighting details and more to catch Easter eggs and teasers we missed in our viewing experience.

Season 5, Well Jon pisses everyone off by giving Mance mercy and allowing the wildlings inside Castle Black, and then gets elected Commander thanks to Sam, Arya gets to the House of Black and White, Cersie opends a can of worms with the High Sparrow and resurrection of the Faith Militant, Margery finally gets some nookie from a third try at a husband, Jaime and Bronn go to a wasted story line in Dorne to get his daughter who gets Killed by the Sand I can't act Snakes, Dany has yet another problem in Essos to solve, Tyrion see's a Dragon and gets to meet Dany and impress her, Littlefinger sells Sansa for power to the Boltons and pledges her to them in Marriage with Ramsey.Jorah gets Greyscale, Breinne screws up another Oath to protect Sansa at least for now, Margerys Honeymoon is in the Prisons of the High Sparrow with her Brother Loras. Sansa gets Raped in front of Theon and we really begin to see the Change in her going forward.Ramsey sabotages Stannis's camp, Mel Burns Shereen alive, Jon Snow goes to Hardholme for a Kick ass battle and we see how badly the living are screwed.Cersie goes the High Sparrow and gets imprisoned and has her walk of Shame, Aray focuses on her list and kills Trent and is Blinded for it, Jorah becomes a Gladiator to impress Dany, we have Drogon hosting a Bar B Que in Maureen, and Dany back with the Dothraki and then we meet Undead Mountain.
The Teleporter needed new batteries after season 4 and 5, hard to track time these two seasons as the speed up happened in the story, I know we all discussed a lot of things about stuff this season trying to figure it all out. This is also about the time we knew HBO was going to take down their forums if I remember correctly and we needed a new home to discuss things.

This was a busy season. Jon becoming Lord Commander was huge. Thanks Sam!
Arya hiding needle told us how that story line would end. Tee Hee. She really did appear to want to be noone. It took a while for her to get back to Arya, but eventually she did. Some of her gruesome scenes will never be forgotten. I loved it when she killed Trent. On a side note - I was watching repeats last night on HBO and realized that she gets her "little list" as a kind of memorial to Yoren. He had just told her the story of Willem killing his brother and how he had said his name every night before going to sleep and then Bam! His prayer was answered. Willem appeared before him. He got to plant the ax so far in his head they had to bury him with it.
Sorry, I got sidetracked.
Then we are shown Hardhome. And the Night King. And what they all are truly facing. He can raise the dead. But...Valaryian steel can kill them. The Night King watches Jon so closely. Very closely. (Is the Night King Brann?) Does anyone know the answer to that?
Season five was filled to the brim with great television!
I miss the HBO board, but thank you DW for finding a home here.
Thanks Chris for your summary of each season.

Season 6, We get the answer, I didn't say it in season 5 because we all were wondering and shocked by the stabbing of Jon, well he is DEAD, DEAD, DEAD, in a nice pool of Crimson, mutiny by the Nightswatch, Headed up by Thorne and finished off by Olly and Breaking Jon's heart as he stabbed it. Sansa and Theon make a break for it, Theon finally found himself again and is shamed at what he has become. Breinne finds someone else to take her into service in Sansa. The Sand Snakes start killing everyone that has pissed them off, Myrcella and Trystan also only because they want to send a message to Cersie and don't want Trystan to rule. Pissing off Cersie is never a good idea by the way. Fall out from the Harpys attacks are the burning of the Ships in the harbor so Maureen is a mess, Tyrion Grey Worm and Missendia are tasks with trying to stableize it. Oh and Arya is a blind Girl in the streets. That's just the beginning, Bran starts to time travel with Blood Raven and we find out who Hodor was and see the Starks and Lyanna, Tyroin gets up close and personal with Dragons and it was a cool scene, then asks Vary's to punch him in the face if he ever wants to do something like that again, however Rheagar and Visirion are now freed from chains.Ramsey Kills his father, his father wife and his half brother, his dogs were really hungry. Mel is depressed, she is feeling empty and dejected for her failure to interpret the flames correctly and murdering Shereen and failing Stannis,Davos asks her to resurrect Jon, she tries but seems to fail until....We see a Gasp once everyone stops watching and leaves except Ghost and Davos.
Need a paragraph break here, been real busy in season 6 so far and gets busier.
Ok deep breath, Sam is on his way with Gilly to be a Maester in Old Town and find answers, stops by the old homestead for some brow beating by dear old dad before Gilly chimes in and they find out she's a wildling, so whole they are asleep they steal the family Valerian Steel sword and head to Oldtown. We get to see a large part of the Tower of Joy Fight with Ned and Howland Reed, taking down Arthur Dayne in less the honorable fashion.Tommen gets recruited to the High Sparrows cause, Jon Executes his betrayers and then quits the Nightswatch saying I already died my oath is satisfied. Ramsey gets a gift of Osha and Rickon.
We have our first Stark reunion with Jon at Castle Black which was cool, Ramsey send a letter to piss them all off getting Jon to take the lead in getting back Winterfell with the Wildlings, More crap in Maureen, yawn, Theon goes home and finds he is rebuked by everyone except Yara,Dany has a Bar B Que of Khals.
Littlefinger tries to play Sansa again but this time she stands up a bit with Breinne in Tow,Arya is sent on another mission to kill an actress,Euron Greyjoy becomes King of the Iron Islands,we find out the Nightking was created by the Children, and also later on he goes on a solo and gets touched by him getting the Blood Raven Killed the Children in the Tre Killed and find out what Hodor means sadly. Vary's gets a visit from the High Priestess when Tyrion asks for support and she looks into his soul and scares the Eunich out of him.
Bran and Meera on the run and Coldhands in the book Brynden Stark however in the show rescues them and takes them close to the wall, Tommen reveals he is siding with the High Sparrows, and removes Jaime from the Kingsgaurd.
Arya and the Waif do Terminator, we find out the Hound was not killed by the results of his fight with Breinne and gets together with the Brotherhood without banners, this was a fresh recharge of the Teleporter episode.
Battle of the Bastards was so cool seeing it the first time, the elad up to it with Sansa being so cool and confronting Ramsey and then feeling hurt that Jon would not listen to her, Rickon is a Clay Pigeon and dies by Ramsey's bowshot, the battle is almost lost but an alliance with the Vale and Littlefinger saves the day, too bad Wun Wun had to die but Ramsey being fed to his hounds by Sansa at the end of it was satisfying especially seeing her with that smirk as she walked away.
Cersie Burns them all in the Sept getting rid of a majority of all her threats at the moment with Wild Fire,Tommen takes a giant step for Kings Landing,Jon becomes King of the North and Lyanna Mormont is crucial in the decision with her calling out the other houses, Arya serves some Frey pie, Cersie is crowned Queen, Sam starts his duties as a Maester in training, we see the rest of the story the Tower of Joy, Dany heads to Westeros.
Lots of reveals and a lot of changing of the Guard, very good season top to bottom.
